Chinese flower skin lightening
Taiwanese scientists are researching the possibility that extract of Osmanthus fragrans
a Chinese plant could be a skin lightening ingredient. In Asia the plant is used as a flavour
drinks, and as a fragrance.
The findings published in Food Science and
Technology shows its potential for inhibiting the action of the enzyme tyrosinase
which is involved in the synthesis of melanin.
Experiments
revealed that luteolin, phenolic compounds and flavonoids were found in
the extract also providing antioxidant activity.
